Asterisms -- not quite a constellation was created by johnflannery
Hi all,
I noticed Trevor's enquiry about asterisms in a thread John Murphy put up.
Here's some web sites to look up more info on these celestial delights.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asterism_(astronomy)
www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Launchpad/5320/oldcon.html
www.bisque.com/Tom/asterisms/list.asp
www.visualdeepsky.org/chat/msg01235.html
www.astroguiding.com/viewtopic.php?p=3111
There is also this book on Amazon that I was looking at before but felt it didn't really expand on lists that can be gleaned from the 'Net;
www.amazon.com/gp/product/1556182058/sr=...?ie=UTF8&s=books
There is a comprehensive asterism database at groups.yahoo.com/group/deepskyhunters/ . . . mostly telescopic stuff however.
All the best and happy deep-sky hunting
John

Thanks for those John
This reminds me of an asterism I saw last year and I could not find it on any of those lists. I am not a member of Yahoo so i do not know if it is on that list..anyway it is in hercules. I forgot about it until today, must have a look for it again.

Hi Trevor,
I think Michael Poxon has a mention of it in his online binocular handbook (see freespace.virgin.net/m.poxon/her-lyr.htm ).
Clear skies! (rain in Dublin!)
