Red Rectangle Nebula was created by Graham

Hi All!

I just came across this nebula (online!) and wow is it weird!

Has anyone actually seen it or taken a picture of it?

Do others think this is weird or is it just me? :P

What do you think is a weird object?

That's a leading question that could lead to many "interesting" responses.

But I guess keeping it clean and astronomically related to avoid the mods crawlinhg over me like a rash, how's about Hanny's Voorwerp? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanny's_Voorwerp

How about

Wolf-Rayet 104 - a star chasing its tail.

You know, I never knew there was a Red Rectangle Nebula out there! The APOD picture is probably the best one there. It does have an uncanny symmetrical geometry about it.

Seanie,

This gem lies in the constellation of Monoceros and is something that I had tried to pursue last year but could not get any imaging time due to four months of steady clouds and rains.

Fingers crossed I can get us something this winter.

Well I hope you have better luck this season round Anto, the prospect of you doing a new target like this for us all to see does make one tingle a little with excitement to see your result. B)
