R CrB in decline was created by JohnONeill
Hi,

The famous soot star ('nova in reverse') R CrB is in decline, you will now need a telescope rather than (ordinary) binoculars.

Get a comparison chart at:
www.aavso.org

I would be glad to receive any estimates (if the skies ever clear!)

Replied by JohnONeill on topic R CrB faint
Hi,

Last night (7/8 August 2007) I observed and estimated R CrB. In order not to bias others I will just say it was 11th Magnitude. Used my 25cm reflector.

Fascinating to see it again so faint. Will it go as faint as 14th magnitude as it has done in the past?.

This star (sometimes called 'a nova in reverse') spends most of it time at 6th magnitude.

John
