Hi,

Have a look at www.citizensky.org

You will find resources for getting started in variable star obseving. You will also find advice on photometry with with either a pep, ccd or dslr. You may join Citizen Sky for free, there is a forum area where you may ask questions.

Also included is info on how to submit data to the AAVSO variable star database. You do not need to become a member of AAVSO to submit data. However, I would encourage those who are more seriously interested you to join! With the good dollar exchange rate it is only about €40 per year ($60).
See www.aavso.org/aavso/membership/ for more info.
