I am looking for a booklet that was distributed by the Irish Government maybe around 1969 - 1970.

The booklet went to each household in the land and was a what to do in the event of Nuclear Fallout advice effort.


I know its not astronomy but it is history. So does anyone have one ? I am writing something and it would be useful.

I've a copy of the one issued in March 2002 from the Department of Public Enterprise. I guess you'd probably have to contact a public library to get the one your looking for.
The 2002 one should be available on the DPE website htp://www.dpe.ie , or if you can't find it there let me know your e-mail address and I can send you the PDF.

As for the iodine tablets - yeah there still there at the back of the medicine cabinet.

I've just looked at the 2002 edition of that booklet, and on page three there's a photo of a girl peering through a 60mm refractor at the sky in broad daylight. - no kidding.
What's she looking for? Scud missiles ?

I was unaware of the updated booklets, I am still interested in the old ones from 1970 or so.

I think it was based around the psychology of panic.
The illustrations I remember, were great for stirring up fear and terror.
