Can someone here please update it with some information regarding the specific observations and discoveries that were made using the scope. Also if someone could clarify exactly why it is not used for observing at present (I thought it was mechanical another wikipedia editor was told it was for insurance reasons).
As this is meant to be an encyclopedia article it would be best if you could give sources for the comments you make.
If people don't want to edit wikipedia themselves then please post what information you have here and I'll make the changes tot he site.
Irish Astronomy in general is not up to scratch on wikipedia, but the Birr scope seems the obvious first place to start improving it.
