Opinion On More Small Astronomical Observatories Book was created by jmcc5
Just wondering if anyone has read Patrick Moore's book More Small Astronomical Observatories and if so is it worth buying. I'm thinking about either fixing the scope to a mobile table or building and adapting a shed. Any info much appreciated

Joanna - its a good book but currently out of print. Even better, you get the first book with it (on a CD). Its basically individual articles from amateurs telling you what they did and how. There's a lot of good info there, and not just on observatories. They are all DIY projects so it could be useful for you.
I have a copy that I was going to sell to a guy in the USA, but he hasn't come back to me yet. I was selling it for €30 plus shipping (I paid €43).
Let me know if you're interested or you could try the usual shops/ebay/buy and sell sites to see if they have a copy.

Thanks Dave. How much is the shipping? Easons have it in stock online, but they have plenty of money. Let me know the total cost incl shipping and I'd say we've a deal

Joanna,
The mobuile table idea sounds on the face of it a good idea, but I'd say it would be hard to make anything stable enough without it weighing half of your house! A roll of shed or similar is a far more practical idea. Even something like one of the plastic sheds from argos, which you could adapt to be rolled away could work well. I know photography is something you want to do so I'd say steer clear of the mobile table idea. However if you had a shed to store the gear in something like the JMI wheely bars might work.

You coukld just wheel the gear out then. The downside is you still have to polar align each time you begin, whereas with the permanent mounting idea you can just go!
