I have what i think is this set. there's a dvd on the following:
the sun.
the inner planets, venus and mercury.
earth
the moon
Mars
Jupoter
Saturn
Outer planets
Alien Galaxies
Life and deathg of a star
end of the earth
Most dangerous places in the universe.
Ive so far only watched the dvd on the sun. Its very american, comparing the sun to a pool table, a very ominous and doom ridden narator, but has some cool animations and actual footage of solar ripples and solar tsunamis. If its the same show, its defo worth a look

Excellent - thoroughly enjoyed the first series.
Fintan - your not wrong about the "Doom ridden narrator". Why is it that these programs have to be dumbed down or sensationalised? Black holes are their favourite especially the scenario of one approaching our solar system - like that's likely?
Isn't the very subject itself awesome enough without injecting sensationalism?

I've been watching them recently on Sky Documentaries - They've been showing them usually on Thursday evenings with re-runs during the week.

I just bought series 1 on DVD today for €20 (BARGAIN). It includes:
the sun.
the inner planets, venus and mercury.
earth
the moon
Mars
Jupiter
Saturn
Outer planets
Alien Galaxies
Life and deathg of a star
end of the earth
Most dangerous places in the universe.
I've watched most of it on tv, but it's such a great series and €20 is a damn good price.
I also bought the dvd boxset of David Attenborough's "Planet Earth". What an AMAZING series that was. All of his shows are FANTASTIC. Nothing to do with astronomy.................but the guy is to natural history what Patrick Moore is to astronomy.
