What to show my friends! was created by Neil40
Hi guys my friends family have asked me to bring my scope up later. I can show them Jupiter and later on Orion but I am not sure what other targets are visible in a light polluted area. We are starting at about 7pm. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Neil.

Hello Neil,
Jupiter will be at 10 degrees by 7 so make sure you look at it first if you can see it.
The Moon is a good target this evening.

The Pleiades too, also double cluster in Perseus and Albireo in Cygnus- a beautiful double

Thanks guys. I was quite nervous because it was the first time I brought my scope up to more than one person. I showed them everything you guys suggested. They were blown away! I pushed the mag up to 600 on the moon. It was so clear. I was even surprised by how good the seeing was. I showed them all your suggestions and they went down a treat. My favourite part was the 9 year old child. He was astonished by the moon and the Orion nebula. Then when I got Uranus up he thought is was so cool. He said to me as I was packing up that he now loves science. Thanks guys for your advice. The only problem I have now is my back. A cpc 1100 is bloody heavy! Cheers guys.
