hi.

I have a book, and im learning to use my telescope and to navigate around the night sky, but the book is not the most clear explination i have ever read.

I dont understand how to set and use the RA scale on the scope, and trying to find the correct time on a map of the sky is difficult.

The book says its sky map shows the sky at 22.00 local time. if im looking at something onthe 11th of april i look at roughly 11h 19 mins to see whats currently visible, but this changes if i am looking on 11th of april at 8 45 pm let say. does anyone know a good site where these details are handled a bit better for a beginner?

I know all this would be easier learned in the field, but its pretty dismal in Ireland the last few days and i wana see what i can learn before heading out

Thanks

Log on to www.heavens-above.com .

You can get sky charts for you location at and date or time.

It won't explain how it all works but it takes the brain work out of it :D
