another collomation question was created by fguihen
ive read the basics of collimating my SCT, and i collimated it, more by luck than skill. my question is: when you defocus a star and see the conscentric rings, and i can see that on one side, the rings are closer together. do i loosen the screws on the side where the rings are closer together, or tighten them? if my phrasing of the question is confusing, please let me know.

Usually, in an SCT, the image is the 'right way up'. I would guess that means the screws closest to the 'rings'. By simply trying it anyway, you'll quickly find out. If the one you tried is not the right one, simply reverse the turn to what you saw at first!

Hi

Heres a great page I found on columating SCT. I have never columated my own as I have not seen the need to do so. (If not broken dont fix  )

I think if you put your finger in front of the corrector plate then you should see its shadow in the eyepiece. This will show you which screw to turn.

Good luck
