Good video for beginners for Comet Lulin was created by DeirdreKelleghan

I had a battle with fast clouds last night to see Lulin but managed to spot
it in the few clear patches. In my 15X70 Binoculars with Saturn in the lets imagine on a clock face in the five past twelve position, Lulin was in the twenty five to twelve position approx just about in there.

My binoculars have a four degree field of view. Saturn looks like a graphic of itself , with the rings edge on. I was viewing at 1:50 UT

I did not see it in context with surrounding stars for long enough to judge the magnitude, it was very close to the beta star in Virgo and was brighter.

The nucleus was bright and seemed slightly ovoid in shape, coma appeared round but with some flattening on the top and bottom, giving it on first impressions a rugby ball look.

First seconds to my eye Lulin had a grey/pale green tint.

Not in my view for long enough to sketch but I will watch for my moment to grab it with a bit of luck , when it is closer visually to Saturn or Regulus.

Comets are wonderful to follow , I am sure Lulin is naked eye in a dark place as I had a good view of it in surburbia with yellow street lights messing up my sky.
