A long delayed returnto observing was created by william coghlan
No point in unnecessary explainations so here goes. Just returned indoors after 1 1/2 hours of visual observations of Jupiter and the Pleiades cluster. First proper setup in over 2 years.
Equipment:
Orion Optics 300mm F4 Dobsonian.
Televue Parracor (Visual)
Televue Panoptic 41mm
Televue Nagler 22mm
Televue Nagler 11mm

Tried the 6mm Radian on Jupiter but seeing just not good enough, or possibly I didn't allow enough time for ambient temperature.

Parracor necessary as flattener and as an extension for the focuser (about 5 inches short of focus with the Panoptic)
Impressions:
I'm so glad I'm back!
Couldn't see all of the Pleiades with the panoptic (c. x29) but it was still amazing. Terms like immersive can be overused but it's appropriate here.
Banding very clear on Jupiter with a strong impression of swirls in the dark bands.

Many thanks to Mr John Nooney from Clonkill Observatory in Mullingar who kindly helped me recallibrate the Dobs after 2 years parked near a radiator in my utility room.
Looking forward to the MAC Winter schedule of meetings and observing.

Meade LX90 12" LNT
Orion Optics 12" f4 Dobsonian
EPs: currently in transition state
Health: CAF (Chronic Aperture Fever). No known cure. Known to cause Dobs to expand into Obsession.

Welcome back to the fold William. Your 'small' binoculars you had on Friday night (16th) at the MAC outreach event were impressive.
