Primary Mirror Strip and recoat was created by RandomPillars
Hey folks,
Just wondering if any of you have used a uk or european company to strip and recoat your primary mirror? Mine needs to be done, badly. The best company i've seen on my internet search was Galvoptics. I've e-mailed them but have not got a response. Has anyone used them? Or if you have used another company could you tell me how cheap/expensive and most importantly the quality of work and turn around time.
Many thanks for any help you could give me.
Sean

Thanks Pheonix. E-mailed Orion and am in discussions with them now. They told me a Hilux coat for the primary (12") is £141 + shipping.
They said if the marks are on the glass, they won't come out. If they are on the coating, they will come out. Now, I don't know which they are on. To me, it looks like the marks are on the shiney, roundy surface at the bottom of my thing that lets me see stars and planets better. Thats all I know. I did clean the mirror before and barely any, if any at all, of the marks came off. Does that mean its the glass that is the problem? If it is, I'll just stick to looking at the moon, planets and dso's. No star is a pinpoint in my scope.

The coating will be sub millimetre so if you have deep scratches then even a re-coat won't sort them out.
