Suitable mount question? was created by John_Walshe
Hi Folks,
One of the CAC clubmembers asked me to suggest a suitable "grab'n'go" mount for a 6" A&E APO refractor (I know - some scope for GnG). He wants to use this for star-party/club observing sessions.
All suggestions welcome.

I think the weight of the scope is not in his favour for a GnG mount

Yes it is quite heavy. I was thinking that maybe an eq6 or something might be applicable. Does that qualify as GnG I wonder?
Now he doesn't have to have goto so maybe one of those T-mount units - I can't think of the mfg at the moment - they are red in colour.

A lot depends on your budget, are you looking for a GoTo or an Alt-az?
Aubrey has a 6" Apo that he mounts on a Berlebach tripod and mount system that is rock solid and quick to set up, it's very popular down at the Sandymount public access nights.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.
