I wrote an email to District Manager of Bray Council re the March 20th partial solar eclipse
Got a result !!
This is part of my e mail.- I suggest IFAS club reps should consider doing something similar if there
are public viewing scopes in your county.
This will
A) Inform the council about the eclipse
B )Inform them to act from a public safety point of view.
C) Possibly save someones sight.
C) Set up a dialogue between your club and the county managers
"I am writing to you to inform you of a potential danger to the public on Friday March 20th 2015. On that Friday morning between the hours of 08:23 :27 and 10:36:22 the moon will move between the Sun and the Earth causing a 91% partial solar eclipse. As this will most likely be in the media closer to the time it leaves a potential for uninformed members of the public to possibly use the coin operated scopes on the prom to try to see the eclipse.
In order to avoid injury and blindness to the eyes of people who just might be daft enough to try , I would suggest that these viewing scopes on the prom be covered up or disabled during this time. "
Answer
"Thank you for the warning. We will arrange for the telescopes to be disabled."

make sure that the Limerick public are well
informed about the dangers of Solar observing
without the proper equipment..
