Hi all I have lovely clear skies here in East Cavan, I can clearly see a bright evenly spread auroral glow on my northern horizon.

Let's see how this one goes B)

The bright even glow to my north is Dublin.

The wife and I took a notion to go for a drink at the Ballygally Castle hotel, on the Antrim coast road, this evening, and got a lovely view. The sky was glowing green all along the northern horizon from below Alkaid all the way across to below Capella.

I could see shimmering waves of light within the aurora, and long shafts of light coming up from the horizon. We moved to a dark car park a mile or so up the road and the view from there was even better.

Unfortunately, the camera on my phone is in no way capable of imaging the sky, but it was memorable none the less.

This must have been a really bright one, as I was able to observe it visually and get some photos from the back of my apartment block :) .The clouds eventually rolled in and blocked the view North. There is a lot of light pollution in the area, so the photos aren't great but the aurora was coming through on them.

On a related note, is there any gear out on the market to reduce the amount of orange sky glow you pick up in pictures (have a 350D) without having to do post-processing etc (would not know where to start with that! :-))
