Between January 25 and 29, comet Panstarrs will pass within half a degree of the Double Cluster.  I believe Panstarrs will be about mag. 10, though I am not sure.  A great observing and imagining opportunity.

Hi Paul,

Very many thanks for notifying us of this event. By all accounts this comet shows a nice tail. I'd love to see it, I'm not sure whether my scope has enough light gathering ability to observe it though. I recall Aubrey mentioning the possibility of heading to the Sugar Loaf this Friday for some observing. If people were to go to the Sugar Loaf this week I'd be happy to join them with a view of observing the comet. What are your thoughts?

All the best,

Darren.

It appears that the weather people are suggesting there will be patchy drizzle on Friday - both afternoon and evening; with rain coming on Saturday.

So it doesn't look too good for Friday night.

Still we can keep checking!

Kind regards,

Aubrey.
