Venus + 2 doubles was created by flt158
Hello, everyone.

I just thought I should mention that Venus is passing through 2 double stars tonight. One to the south (roughly) which will be very close to Venus. The other to the north is a bit further.
The double star to the south is Chi Tauri. Its magnitudes are: A = 5.4. B = 8.5. Sep = 19.4". PA = 25 degrees.
The double to the north is Phi Tauri. Its magnitudes are: A = 5.1. B = 7.5. Sep = 48.7. PA = 259 degrees.
I have split both doubles very easily in the past. 40X is sufficient for me.

By the way, Venus is now -4.7 mag. 38.7% illuminated. Its angular diameter has reached 30". Its distance is a little over 83 million kms from us.

Sunset is due to occur at 8.22 Local Time.
When the wind dies down we should have some fun with the whole area.

Clear skies are here again.

Kind regards,

Aubrey.

I have both double stars on either side of Venus right now.
Both are easily split at 40X alright.
It is not possible to fit them both in the same fov as Venus at the same time.
But I can fit them both one at a time at 40X with Venus.
The sky is very clear right now.

Superb view all round.

Hi Aubrey,

Very many thanks for your notification of, and report on Venus and the double stars last night.

It has a great month for Venus, I wonder what else she has in store for us?

Clear skies,

Darren.
