Occultation of Porrima

Hello everyone, 

As there are as some fans of 'Porrima' on this forum, I thought I'd let you know that on the morning 13th May from 01:00 ISM through to 02:50 ISM there will be an occultation of Porrima.

Hello Darren. 

There are details of this occultation in the current issues of Orbit and Sky High. 
It should be fun observing the 2 stars of Porrima (Gamma Virginis) disappear behind the Moon.
From Dublin this excellent true binary is due to disappear at 0h 47m UT. That's 1.47am local time. 

However we probably will have both high cloud and low cloud for the event. 

Please do report back if you are successful in seeing it though!

Hi All, 

I stayed up in an attempt to see Porrima 'dissappear', but too much cloud to see anything. So, I hit the hay shortly after 2am, as I'd like to be rested for Lunar eclipse. 

Maybe others had better conditions last night.

I looked out a bedroom window at midnight, but of course it was completely overcast.
