Just received my new 11" telescope today !!!

Just kidding.
Lets hope for clear skies tonight. A good time to try out my 15x70s on the tripod.

Are you kidding? Have you seen the forecast for tonight and tomorrow? Lets just say tat on a scale, the Beaufort Scale, of 1 to 12, (1 being the best conditions, 12 being the worst ;)), we're expecting 9 and 10...

Lovely. I'm giving up on this one already (unles Met Eireann and Sky got it wrong, I'll find out in about 12 hours), and planning ahead for the next one on Feb 21st 2008.

It was brilliantly clear here last night, and it mostly broken cloud here at the moment, although that can change in less then 10 minutes.

I'm all hyped up about this! I realy want to get a time lapse of the moon from moon rise to set today, but doubt that I can stay up that late, and still be able to get up for church at 8 in the morning! There isn't even a sermon at that service! Our outlook up here in the north is a nice cloudless sky from around sixish!

I had thought of taking an image every 5 minutes with my webcam and the scope, and a couple of nice stacks during totality. I'm also considerin trying something like on that wikipedia photo with a normal digital... dunno if i can get the scale though...

Yeah, just been outside showing a few neighbours and the kids playing football the Moon, Saturn, and Venus in the boni's. Told them all about the eclipse, and the times, and what it will look like etc. They were well impressed. Some knew what is going to happen, and chipped in with the explanations!

Will the moon totally go dark for a period?

I really must think of something interesting to use as a tag line!

The darkening is becoming very obvious in binoculars now.

In about 10 mins we should be entering the umbra so things should really start kicking off then!

Wouldn't you know it. Was clear here half an hour ago.
Just checked now & that high thin cloud has just passed over, hazing the view. :(

Can't see detail, as Dave pointed out, but it might pass off.
