It is with great pleasure that I get to announce that Paul Evans, from Antrim and member of the Irish Astronomical Association is the winner for August!

Cassiopeia and the Double Cluster in Perseus. Crop of a widefield taken on 25th August 2007 from Northumberland. Minolta Dynax 5D camera with 50mm lens wide open at f1.7 - 10 seconds exposure at ISO 3200. Processed in Photoshop Elements 5 with Noel Carboni's actions.

Many thanks Seanie! That version of the shot was largely just an experiment with Noel Carboni's actions - the raw photo was not bad taken at a friend's house in England - he has a darker sky than me and the f1.7 lens was able to collect lots of detail - I reckon that goes down past mag 11 or so.

Next month's subject is more of a challenge I see!
