Erm .... I've stood up for this atmostpherics a lot and shouted for it and so forth but don't you think you're extracting the urine at this stage? This is an atmostpherics board not a weather board. The word weather is not in the title or the description for a reason!

Myself and some of the other powers that be have been getting a lot of complaints about spam on these boards and this is exactly the kind of thing they were on about.

There are boards on this internet dedicated to this kind of thing, this is not one of them. The atmospherics is pushing it in many people's opinion (though not mine) but actual clouds is just going too far even for me and I get told I'm too 'liberal'.

Can I lock the thread then?

My goodness talk about over reacting...its a shot of the solar disk so its still astronomical. Theres no reason for the thread to be locked.

Now, unless there is something going on that I am not aware of ,I can see the solar disc in the cloud image, and it reminded me of a Turner painting. So many images of our Universe are wonderfully doubled up as high art in my opinion, even though they may be taken with high technology cameras by robots. Images can be rubbish or can be beautiful taken by either source. This is a beautiful image.

I have to say, this is taking the "you know what"...
Do you put every pic you capture up on the boards,
I started a thread on imaging Jupiter last night, I have over 1 gigabyte of AVI footage and over 40 resultant bmps, do you think I'm gonna put them all up on the boards?
You'd serve yourself well by being alot more selective in what you put up here.
Except for the fact that I'm a moderator and have to look all over this site, I would never bother with any atmospheric threads in the future if this is whats gonne be in them.

There must be something going on that I am not aware of ?

Dave that is out of order...thats one image...you have seriously got to be joking? He doesnt have 40 sun disk images up. I am getting VERY fed up with the attitude of certain people. This is s forum...next thing you will be saying we cant put any images up at all (perhaps this is what you want). If i got an image of dark matter with my digi there would still be complaints...theres alot more going on here than meets the eye and i have a fair idea what it is.

Yes Deirdre you hit the nail on the head except i am as much in the dark as you are. There is alot of ganging up and bully boy tactics going on behind the scenes here...some individuals will need to get there act together now!

I dont think I'm out of order, this is an astronomy board. This is another example of the wrong post in the wrong place, atmospheric?, weather?, at this stage I'm beyond caring so I'm going to do us all a favour and never comment on this stuff again.

You ARE generating spam by point blank refusing to re-suse your threads. You started THREE over the moon slither. That is spam and it is really pissing people off. It is not at all un-reasonable to ask people to re-use threads becasue that way ONLY the people who care about the thread get an email rather than EVERYONE and that way your topic only takes up one line in the "recent posts page" instead of three.

Your refusal to cooperate in this really simple way is reducing the usability of the boards for other users and they are annoyed and IMO rightly so.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, please please please cut down on your creation of new threads, you are spamming the boards!

If so then fair enough, you have certainly seen it now so we can all move forward and get on with our lives.

it is going back over a couple of months due to the influx of weather based photographs (pretty or not) that have been posted. A form of moderation is needed, as this is primarily an astronomy board. I won't go into the semantics here, suffice to say the masters of these boards have been getting complaints due to the large volume of (for the most part) not-astronomy related photography being posted.

How do you know Martin? Can anyone else beat you at taking the most photographs? And its Jupiter, not sun images - you should calmly read the posts before getting mixed up and posting irrationaly.

Martin - I hope you didn't mean your last post to sound the way it did... Seanie has every right to post (within the guidelines) as do you. Please avoid direct personal attacks.

Its a shame that you seem to be using the same tactics of bullying that you have frequently accused others of. I hope that your post was not meant in that way but I can't read it otherwise...

Seanie is a moderator here and he can and will moderate what needs to be moderated regardless of who posted it. If he does something you don't think was fair Martin then you can appeal the decision.

If people cannot be civil then there will have to be action taken. I have no objection to banning people's account for a week if they start hurling personal abuse at each other. Consider that a warning to ALL users.

This board is a place for civil conversation, anyone who isn't prepared to abide by that has no place here.

Yes i am appealing against Seanie's tone...he can put his point across no problem but he is lacking manners...a pretty basic attribute one needs when dealing with people. If he continues to talk to me in that tone of his then he will get the same in return...simple as that.

I have not seen seanie be hostile, I have seen you be hostile. Sit back and re-read all the threads here. Because this is a text-only medium it is very easy to miss-interpret the tone. Perhaps you are un-fairly assigning a tone that is just not there because of some off the boards stuff between yourself and seanie that I neither know about nor care about.

You mean to tell me no one else can see what Seanie is up to? why else do you think i am being hostile to him? i feel completley justified. I didnt think anyone would be jumping to my defense here anyway..no suprise. This whole thing is going around in ciricles. Seanie has made himself very clear about how he feels about me which is a shame for his karma. To resolve this row and any potential future rows i am asking Seanie to ignore my threads for now on unless he has something positive to say for once. If you check over the previous issues between Seanie and myself you will see that he has deliberately instigated tension and rows...that is plain to see. I will not tolerate him talking to me in that tone (public slander) so i am polite here when i ask him to back off with his smart remarks. I think i am being very resonable and fair. He is unfit to be a moderator.
