Like every one else in my neck of the country, despite a day off, the Irish weather guaranteed complete cloud cover for the moon/venus occultation, ..... so anyway, I didnt get a chance to view the event!!!

However, I think the weather gods took a little bit of pity on me by providing a very evident rainbow display from my back garden as the skies brighteded up at about 9.00pm that evening..... managed to take a few shots with the 350D using the 18-50mm Kit Lens

... and judging by the weather forecast these are probably going to be the nearest I'll get to astrophotography over the next few week!!!

Thanks Bart

The only unfortunate thing I discovered after taking the pics was that as a result of fiddling about DSLR Focus the night before in "Focus" mode, set the camera settings to JPEG medium rather than RAW, which resulted in the JPEG artifacts being visible in the full sized version!!!

.... but those are the breaks!!!

You can always count on rainbws to pop up here now and again if nothing else astronomical comes your way! Nice shots by the way, but the colours are very strong. Did you do much post-processing?

Hi Seanie...

I increased the saturation a bit to reflect the brilliance of the colours that were evident in this particular rainbow with the eye.

Nice images Steve,I like the first shot and the double rainbow that was captured.
