Fabulous Sundog !

Hello all, this is not entirely to do with Astronomy, but I got my first chance ever to photograph a complete 'sundog' visible in my western sky last evening at shortly after 8pm from my home. It appeared as some high cirrus cloud covered the sun to reveal some strong rainbow coloured sundogs either side of the sun, then to my amazment, a third 'arc' appeared high above the sun , looking like a bow in apperance, it too multicolored. A semi-circle ring of light can also be seen connecting all three.

This was the first time ever that I had seen three 'sundogs' at once caused by ice crystals high in the cirrus cloud above. This shot represents what I saw, it's a stitch of two shots at 24mm, ISO 400, f13 with 1/800th second exposures as the sun was very bright.

Well done Keith that's a fab shot i can tell your
very pleased with yourself and rightly so.It's a
rare sight at these southern latitudes, i imaged
one a few years ago but it's not a patch on your
own. Great capture and thanks for sharing.
