Still going on, more photos to be taken
Paul.
Nothing that good in Dublin. Though I see Terry has just sent out a mail saying it still oging on.

Hi all,
There's a beautiful display of Noctilucent Clouds (NLCs) at the moment. Look low down in the North, just below Capella, for these iridescent wispy silvery 'night-shining' clouds.
Clear skies,
Terry Moseley

If they really are at as high an altitude as they say they are then those "low" clouds would be at a latitude well above the Arctic Circle, basking in full sunlight.

Awesome shots is right Paul. I was out and about between 02:25 and 02:45 hours, and even though I had quite a clear large patch to the horizon at that time, NLC activity was a bare minimum. You guys up north seem to have got the better display by far.

Excellent images Paul, is there anyway of figuring out where these are exactly (latitude). I had a quick check at midnight but didn't see anything although I didn't have a great northern horizon..

Lovely shots Paul, nice catch.
Haven't seen any NLCs yet this year - not for want of looking but, more due to uncooperative skies.

Thanks all, it was certainly an impressive sight. I was hoping for a repeat last night but despite having partial clarity to the North, nothing at all happened.
Plenty more time yet - last year the best sightings came in July.
As for the trigonometry Dave, if I had been paying more attention 30 years ago I might remember how to work out the distance. Maybe we need Frank to draw it out for us
