This wasn't high - circa 10 deg above the horizon with a sharp cutoff, and 60deg wide, but wow, so bright!

Hi all,

There's a beautiful display of Noctilucent Clouds (NLCs) at the moment. Look low down in the North, just below Capella, for these iridescent wispy silvery 'night-shining' clouds.

1:35Am and visible from Shannon,
although clouds are interfering.

If they really are at as high an altitude as they say they are then those "low" clouds would be at a latitude well above the Arctic Circle,basking in full sunlight.

Those are lovely shots Paul, looks like one hell of a display!

Awesome shots is right Paul. I was out and about between 02:25 and 02:45 hours, and even though I had quite a clear large patch to the horizon at that time, NLC activity was a bare minimum. You guys up north seem to have got the better display by far.
