Hi,

Any chance we can change the IYA logo on the front page to the official Irish one on www.astronomy2009.ie ?

Cheers,
~Al

To say my Irish language skills are rusty would be a compliment. Never got more than a year of Irish language in a Christian Brothers school  . My lack of Irish shames me......I am more fluent in Portugeuse and French than my own native tongue. The official one looks better but can we have both for us illiterates.

The official Irish one is the official IYA Irish one for Ireland! The translation from NUIG and the IYA folks did the design.

Plus the translation is better than the original English. "Open your eyes to the beauty of the universe" is better than "The Universe - yours to discover"

Look, lets be practical here,
Surely we could have both, one in each side column, one on the left and the other in the right with the text in between. It would fit perfectly.!!

Agora eu posso ver que esta ainda mais lindo em Irlandes. Un outre lingua esta muito bointo mais as vezes esta maior a comprendir as palavras tambem. Talvez esta pensar que alguem diz 'esta grande' mais diguem cabeca du taco.

Told you my Portuguese was better than my Irish :D

Albert many thanks for the link, you are a gem. The link has perfect Portuguese than my written version so I can understand it better.

My post translation was:

Now I can see that it is even more beautiful in Irish. Another language is very beautiful but at times it is better to understand the words aswell. Perhaps you think that someone is saying 'thats great' but they said 'cabeca du taco'.

Cabeca du taco translates literally into the head of a pool cue but when used in specific conversation means a new recruit into the Portuguese army due to his shaved head
