Hey all, genuinely so jealous of ye all- it sounded like a great weekend. I'm definitely going to go next year. I'd go for September too- although I know my vote doesn't count for much!! But i'm more than willing to take a bit of cold (a bit more whiskey) to see possibly longer and darker skies.

And congrats to Roy for originally organizing this- hope it continues to grow next year and for years to come.

Hi Sean..

1st off everyone's vote counts,
so u have a say in this as much as
anyone else.. My vote is also for September but at the end of the day we have to go with the masses and if they say Aug then it's Aug and (fingers crossed) if they say Sept then it's whoop de do da.. Watching the early autumn constellations moving across the skies and giving way in the early morning to the winter constellations.. YUMMMMM..

Cheers Roy

Okay Guys and Gals..

How do people think about holding SSP 2015 in Oct?
I was thinking the weekend of Oct 9th to Oct 11th ..
I think we should try cement some dates for next year
before they all get snapped up..
I was looking at Starry Night and Astronomical Twilight
occurs around 8.45pm giving us about 9.5 hours of observing
before the sun starts to rise..
So Guys don't be shy, sound off here and we can get the dates
sorted and have a sticky for the 2015 Skelligs Star Party put up
here on IFAS.

Cheers Roy

Roy, Generally you can count me in for next year ... for almost any weekend except this one ... sorry.

(Logic being that this would likely be the first weekend of the European rugby cup (or whatever name they have on it at that stage), so I appreciate this would not be a factor for everyone.)

I would still prefer end of school holidays but other than that I am indifferent to when it's held and will plan to be there regardless. Cheers see you there!

So the feedback is already coming, like that..
Okay the vibe im getting is yer open to any dates. .
i will wait for a few more to sound off on this and then we'll move on it and get it rolling again. .
@lino, listen to Michael, i have a munster season ticket every year
and getting a chance to view the Autumn-Winter constellations from Ballinskelligs is worth missing 1 match for. We can catch it at the local bar..lol

Cheers Roy

Have to say that the summer Milky Way is the main pull to go down.
Skies are darker than anywhere in Ireland. Would be a shame to miss that.

But if October is the time I'll go along anyway.

Kerry Dark Sky have an event next year too. Might be going down twice !

I have to agree that the summer Milky Way is a big attraction, but whatever everyone else agrees to, we will probably all be down again.

Weather always seems to be good in September and would love to enjoy more of Kevin's outdoor barbie so that's my vote.
October not bad either!

Hi guys and gals..

Sept is totally out of the question as the BSP is taking place on the new Moon dates then and it wouldn't be right to hold it the same time as I am not out
to spoil anyone's star party.. So it would be either early August or Oct and my vote is for Oct with astronomical twilight starting around 8.45pm.. But Aug has the best chance of weather playing ball and summer BBQ's are always nice.. I need to set the dates as early as we can so we can get it Stickied here on the IFAS forums..

Cheers Roy

Hi Sean.. Not even God himself can guarantee clear skies in Ireland. .
But if we are lucky enough to get clear skies it is truly stunning with dark skies second to none. .
