Okay so far it's Paul, Michael, Ben, Stevie and a couple of guys from NIAAS and myself.. Hopefully a few more will come on board and we can put this little spot in South Kerry on the world astronomical map.

I've sent out a pm to those who said they were interested, and also put it on our website again.

Hopefully I should have a better idea of numbers by this time tomorrow, but I would definitely be up for it even if none of our others guys are.

Is it wrong to hope my holiday somehow gets cancelled??? Then again I will be spending that weekend in the Tabernas desert in Spain - not quite Gold Status skies like Kerry but I'll cope I guess ;-)

I'm just waiting on Paul to get back to
me with the outcome of last nights
IAA Council meeting and then I'll have a rough estimate of who is attending. I also have a few on the maybe list.

I know this all weather dependant, but Iwill be going no matter what the weather forecasters say, iI'm in this hobby long enough to know that they get it wrong(sometimes major wrong).

So I'm just gonna bite the bullet, cross my fingers-toes and eyes and hit the South West coast of Kerry..

I've been known to rattle walls.. Lol
But I hope most of the sleeping will be done after a long night observing.
So we will be all knackered and just pass out for a few hours during the day and no amount of snoring would disturb you..

Right, Terry's putting this out on his email circulation so we'll see what comes back from that.

BUT, we are supporting an event in the North over that weekend - actually we seem to be busy from the Perseids (not that they're any good this year - 2 days after the Supermoon) right into October one way and another - and that will involve a number of us including me, so I at least am out.

it.

Great to see you're on board. Maybe a few more from
around the other clubs will be able to attend and we can
turn a small idea into a proper observing astrocamp.

So far we have 5 from NIAAS attending, maybe a couple
from G.A.C as-well as a couple from S.A.C.. Paul(Lunartic),Michael Murphy
and myself. So if the weather plays ball it could be a great weekend for all
that attend. I'm gonna give a few more days to get more names on board
before I go back to the owner of The Skelligs Lodge with number and I will get
back to you all with the price she gives for the rooms.

This idea sounds really good and despite what will be a very long drive down (6hrs!), very interested in attending for the possibility of observing in such dark skies.
