Hi All,

Caught this one at 03:30 BST this morning from Larne. Estimate mag 2 - I found it in the binos and realised I could see it naked eye once I knew exactly where to look. Getting higher, and in a darker sky as the month goes on so hoping it stays in one piece!

Nice capture Paul. Tonight looks clouded out again here in Munster but Thursday night hopefully. Was the tail detectable naked eye can I ask?

What a great image you've captured Paul - thanks for getting up early (or staying up late) to take a photo of it. Great shot!

Clear skies,

Darren,

Thanks guys, it was a case of setting my alarm for 3am, finding a cloud in the way so waiting a while and getting my pictures :)

Venus was up too big and bright in the East!

Paul.

What a super image you've captured Finbarr. It is stunning! Is that a slight bend in the tail I see,  and how long of an exposure did you set?

I've been reading many reports on it over the past few days - mainly on CN. Some observers were saying that it was not as bright over the past 24 hours, but they said it may be down because of seeing conditions. I think your shot is one of the best I have seen though, so I reckon it could have been the seeing conditions alright. What magnitude do you think it's at?

Met Éireann are forecasting clear skies tonight / tomorrow morning, so I'm going to try and see it for myself.

For Dublin based observers, where do think might me a good location to see it? I was thinking of Killiney Hill, but open to suggestions.

Clear skies,
Darren.
