I do understand. Obviously i dont REALLY know what a total eclipse is like having never seen one. My comment was about the partial eclipse that is gonna be visible. I know it aint as impressive.....................but its impressive none the less.

I wouldn't bet too much on that. I remember a lack of funds and all that in 1999 meant I had to resort to watching a partial from a field in Tullamore. Yeah, it was interesting for a first partial eclipse, but I can't see myself getting excited by another one again. Not since seeing a total one. ;)

Completely understand your thinking. I'll most likely feel the same when i see my 1st total eclipse.

No, the religious guy's name is George, a fine lad.
Well, Anthony is at least twice his size, hehe.
And of course, he was busy imaging the eclipse.

Hey !!!

I resemble that remark.

It really is great footage. I didnt know the corona danced around like that during totality..................only because ive never really thought about it.

The diamond ring effect was particularly stunning compared to others i have seen.

ok, I translate for you.
The lyrics were composed by these 2 guys in one day.
The title is "Hymn to the Eclipse"

I am an astronomer,
I am about to view the eclipse in the sky.
Then I see a pretty girl,
She is winking at me from a side street!
Then my mind gets blurred,
I approach her and talk to her.
Damn! The eclipse has come to an end.
Now I will have to wait until ’88! *
I have come to the furthest point of Greece
To see the magical corona of the Sun,
But I am a victim of love,
I gently place the corona of love on her hair.

Hi,

Re: Eclipse 2008 and future eclipses

With the weather prospects in Russia, it is perhaps best to view this as holiday to Russia with the eclipse as a bonus.

By the way, is anybody on these boards going to see the eclipse in China in 2008?

Or even, anybody made plans for 2009 & 2010?

John,

I certainly plan to pursue the Chinese eclipse in 2009 and I am sure I also speak for Vaggeli and his lady. In fact, I suspect a good portion of the greek mafia group going to Novo should probably resurface eleven months later in China.

Fingers crossed I will make it .... assuming a few miracles in genetic engineering.

We also have an annular eclipse completely visible in the late 2020's ....

Ha! I'll be a whipper-snapper of an 83-year old.
Should be interesting to watch Halley, provided I'll be able to find by glasses and zimmerframe that is...
All we need by then are a few techological enhancements to bring our naked eye limiting magnitide down to about mag9. That would be fun!

16?

Jaysus you are only a snapper.

How long before Hale-Bop comes our way again. I remember seeing that naked eye in the western skies. It was AMAZING. Two clearly visible tails......one blue(ish) white the other yellow.

Awesome sight.
