The M52 road runs right along the centreline of the eclipse so we just need to take this road and keep driving till we hit a clear area.

Nick Tremoulis's last masterpiece:

video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7864060726364295246&hl=en

It's a farewell to our trip in Siberia.
Titles are in Greek, but you can see what he wishes to us for portable equipment and accomodation!
It's a family video, so his siblings join their voices to remind us to "take the filters off" during the eclipse.
Just sweet!

Gentlemen ... and Vaggeli,

Two points of interest ...

(1) according to Jay Anderson, there is a slight improvement for eclipse day and the forecast thereof ...

(2) I am told the Russians will charge import duties on ALL equipment being brought into the country and unless it is left behind for pick up upon our departure (which defeats the purpose of going there for the eclipse). Apparently one means out of this mess is these folks (which is a little too late and certainly pricey): www.atacarnet.com/ .

I would appreciate any thoughts in relation to (2) above .....

Subject: [SEML] Forecast for eclipse day

The 7.5 day forecast (valid at 1200 UT on August 1) from the US GFS model shows dry weather at mid levels all across the eclipse track, from Novo to the track terminus. You can see the model output through the link at http://home. cc.umanitoba. ca/~jander[1]. The upper flow shows a moderate ridge moving into the area. The surface flow shows a weak ridge over and just east of the track. These are all favourable signs.

The forecast two days ago was much more pessimistic, so this is an
encouraging trend.

Jay Anderson
