EAAS had a public viewing and about 40 people showed up over the course of the event. We had clear skies throughout though not as red as we had hoped. Some people said the top part of the moon went blueish(if thats a word) towards totality. We had 10 scopes plus binos, video cams, DSLR and I used an LPI but the laptop battery ran low and I had not read the software manual so I am a typical male. Great crack though.

The weather in Kildare played ball until midnight. It started off with the 'monster took a bite out of the Moon' effect that kids love. At 23:20 (mid-eclipse) I made it an L1 on the Danjon scale (with the naked eye). At midnight a mixture of broken cloud and haze began to interfere with the show.
