Venus-Jupiter Conjunction of June 30th/July 1st

To me Aubrey it looks Jupiter is the one that's moving, Venus looks to be in the same portion of sky for the past few months while Jupiter is zipping across the heavens.

Yes, Paul. I do see what you mean. Jupiter appears to be heading westwards towards the Sun -although it is the Sun that is going towards Jupiter. Whereas the stars of Leo are moving "behind" Venus.

yes, it sure does move fast.
At the end of the SAC meeting last night, we went around to the back of the college with the clubs 12" and wow what a change from Tuesday night, Venus is moving fast !

Did anyone simulate the conjunction next August, they only miss each other by around 4 arcminutes, it'll be almost impossible to catch this at sunset with the naked eye though...

Supposed to happen August 27th next year, (0.06 degrees). Used starry night backyard for Belfast as location, near impossible to see it naked eye. Makes this current one look like a piece of cake! As far south in in the island as you can + the west coast with the Atlantic as your western horizon might get the job done

Amazing -this post simply goes on and on.
We have many good astronomers telling us of future conjunctions.
