Which time zone?

Had to be the China time zone.

Tea only came to Europe from China in 1610 AD.

Proof that the world was "Made in China" like everything else nowadays.

Not just today. For about 700 years after the First Council of Nicea China was the only place that made anything worth having other than the bare essentials.

I really hope David is trolling because the last thing we need on this forum is an outbreak of religious fundamentalism. Quite frankly it would offend me if someone considered such anti-scientific, superstitious nonsense appropriate for an astronomy forum other than in jest. It certainly isn't acceptable to the churches that represent the majority of Christians on this island, which have all said that Genesis is clearly apocryphal.

Better that old people should die of talk than to have young people die in war.

China did not have a monopoly.

Irish astronomical records from that time are better than anything from China, or anywhere else in the world.

Show me anything from China,or anywhere else from that period, as superb as the Book of Kells.

They didn't call Ireland the "Island of Saints and Scholars" for nothing.

how the hell did they manage to decide that the universe was created at 9am on this day 6,010 years ago? Which time zone does the 9am refer to anyway?

As noone has actually answered the Oroginal question I have to refer you to some creationists.

Here is a nice graphic:

www.plainscreation.org/Biblical/World_History.php

Look just after the heading "Biblical Timeline of the Universe"

By simply doing the math as above, the dates for the other events on the timeline can be calculated as follows:

· The beginning of the flood – 2518 BC

· Abraham is born – 2165 BC

· Israel enters Egypt – 1875 BC

· The Exodus from Egypt – 1445 BC

You find that the original Ussher timeline is still fairly much copied.
Rarely if ever does Ussher get the credit for the original work.

LOL I remember Astronomy Ireland had a lecture once on this topic. someone who was at it told me that two creationists behind him were discussing a date given by the creationist speaker. One says: "Is he right? Do we believe the Earth was created 6,000 years ago or 8,000?"
