Great to hear, Paul. I'm glad that the event at QUB pulled in such a big crowd.

The beach at Newcastle had a good handful of people. I brought along a few small viewers that I made from the bit of Baader sheet that Seanie kindly sent me a while back. (Thanks again, Seanie!) People were snapping away with cameraphones and the odd DSLR so plenty of mementos of the event were gathered. Having the telescope there seemed to pull people in resulting in me having to frequently, apologetically tell people that I wasn't actually an expert. :D
That being said I did (politely) warn quit a few people who were looking directly at the sun with only sunglasses!

I wanted to take along a little weather station to measure the temperature change, I remember that being the most profound phenomena of the 1999 eclipse, unfortunately it wasn't working well at the time and I figured there was too much lag in a standard thermometer. I hadn't even thought about the wind-speed changes until I retrospectively watched the Stargazing Live Eclipse episode. Anyone else measure these?

A great experience all around.
