Just wondering what physical process leads to the two sides of the 8 not being symetrical?

Hi Bart,
I apologize for overlooking your message .... I think it has to do with the fact that our planet has an elliptical orbit. With a perfectly circular orbit, we would have a symmetrical figure-8 where both loops would be the same.
