Well, they need to pay for the site.
Personally, I don't mind paying the $12 registration fee as it has saved me quite a few quid over the years when buying secondhand astro gear. Unlike Ebay, the site does not make a cut from the sale.
I like the way that users can rate each other. This helps to keep out unwanted persons from the system and helps develop a level of trust/confidence between buyer and seller, especially when buying gear worth several thousand euro. If you are interested in buying any reasonable amount of astro gear, it will most likely pay for itself several times over on the first transaction.

I didn't realize they said that.
Any idea what it's costing?
Can't be huge though.
One advert would nearly cover it?
I just hate when things are free for so long and then
there is a sudden big charge.

yea, this came in a good time back, its for paying for the site, and given the savings you can make on the site, it's worth it.
I actually havent payed it yet as I havent been looking for any new equipment since it came in, but I will next time I need something.

We had this chat here before. One day, I tried to login and was told I had to pay $12 to continue, most other IFAS users who were Astromart users at the time never had the prompt. Feck Astromart.

For a long time, Astromart was free to join.
Then abouit a year or two ago they introduced a charge for new users.
Now, the charge is applied to all users.

From my experiece of using the site, the fee paid for itself many times over.

Michael.
