It kind of reminds me of the 'War On' idea.
Soooo easy for people to say...
We fight the 'War On - Drugs'
War On - Alcholosim'
War On - Terrorisim'

etc.. blah... ad infinitum.....


Aside from my snide...
I think that in the same way..
when some of the early models od the solar system were
being generated and with the Sun in the center, there were several
'bolt on' additions of the calculations to make up for the (then unknown) reasons for the difference.
I just think that the Dark energy / matter idea is very much akin
to this 'bolt on' theory and in fact it's something totally different althogether...
Well, who knows.. maybe those well paid guys at CERN may crack it!

Every time someone (usually a politician) declares a "war on" something, it's a sure sign that the battle has already been lost. The war on drugs was lost 30 years ago.

I've always hated the terms dark energy and dark matter, neither of which can be measured or seen. If a theory does not fit then make up an unknown, immeasurable factor/s to solve it????? My kids do that all the time when something gets broken.
