Hello Aubrey,
I hope you're recovery from your recent operation is going well.
You were missed last night, but I know you'll be back observing with me and Michael in the comings months.
In terms of what Michael and I oberserved last night, we managed to observe Comet P/12 Pons Brooks.
Michael found it first through his binoculars, and I followed with my new 120mm refractor on the AZ3 mount.
The Comet was close to the star Hamal in Aries. I tried several eyepieces, 35X seemed to be the 'sweet spot'. No tail was detected, but the nucleus and coma were bright. I had planned to sketch the Comet, but clouds rolled in. Thankfully, Michael got some images of it.
Michael and I were joined by two of friends later in the evening who arrived before the Comet was clouded out.
So, while it was a short session we did see what we intended to see!
Clear skies,
Darren.

Congratulations on finding Comet Pons/Brooks, Darren and Michael!
Darren: Is that your third observed comet?
Something tells me it is.
For some reason I'm extremely tired today (Easter Sunday).
Valerie and I had a longer walk than usual about 45 minutes.
Tomorrow I will revert back to 30 minutes.
Clear skies to you both, Michael and Darren.

Very many thanks for your message Aubrey.
I was delighted to read you are doing 30+ minutes walking now - that's great news!
In terms of the comet, you're right - that's my third one.
I hope you've had a lovely Easter with Valerie.
We're away up North for a few days, and I'm bringing the new more portable scope with me...I just need some clear skies...wishful thinking I reckon ; )
