Did anyone see that horizon programme last night on BBC 2. it was an interesting, if a little over dramatic look at Gravity andsuch. Now I do not believe in conspiracy theories - but when the presenter was doing a piece on the prism thingy that is used to reflect laser light and thus calculate the distance from the moon to the earth - he pointed out the above device on a large B&W photo and remarked "their is a sandwich bag beside it" surely he was joking, I mean really...tell me he was joking...Sob...Sob

He was joking. Hope you feel better now :D .

I enjoyed the program but there wasn't really a lot in it. <Abe Simpson Voice> I remember the day when your head would hurt after watching Horizon.</Abe Simpson Voice>

I'll never forget their 1990 Hawaii solar eclipse episode, simply fantastic TV, I really wish I could see that one again.

Oh Thank Heavens. For one awful moment I had a vision of Buzz opening his helmet to take a bite of his sandwich and turning instantly into a desiccated prune.

Yes It was short on content but, on the subject of food, Horizon was one of the few pieces of brain food on TV. This episode came up a bit short.

Hi Declan
Yes, it was interesting I found too. Program is pitched at a general audience, so a mixture of visual effects, engaging dialogue and the entertainment value thrown in is probably called for. I have found “Horizon” programmes to be generally good; they must have the mixture right because the program has been around for a very long time now. Does anyone remember the science program that Channel 4 use to run regularly, it was entitled “Equinox”, a good program in itself, I believe they produce such episodes now as specials at random although I haven’t viewed this program in ages. I think there was another one called “QED”, OK enough reminiscing already!

Only if it was filmed in a studio, I guess the director forgot to remove his O’Brien’s sandwich packaging before the photo was taken! :)
