Hi

Heres what it looks like next to my 32mm meade 4000.

Heres what it looks like next to a ubiquitas can of coke. (No advertising allowed on this site :lol: }

Dread you shuold note that some 40mm eyepieces have a smaller actual field of view then 32mm so you dont get to see any wider field, just difference in magnification.

That's a chunky beast Dave :shock:, thanks for the pics. If I was looking for a wider field with more light capture what should I be looking at?

You need to work out the true field of view and the mag for each eyepiece.

There is also a max field of view possible for a given scope. Above this max you will get vingnetting and dimming of the view towards the edges.

I found this site for calculating the telescope characteristics and EP performance. www.klhess.com/telecalc.htm .

If these calculations are accurate the max field of view for the Bresser 102R is 1.8. A 40 mm Plossl eyepiece would give a max FOV of 1.76 deg, I just squeeze in :D .

Thanks for the info David.
