Hi all

I've just been observing the sun in white light and there is a wonderful collection of spots of varying sizes running in a line.

Get out and see them if you can, they're worth it.

Paul.

Hi Paul,

It is nice finally seeing some activity on Sol. Here is a catch from a few days ago: www.perseus.gr/Astro-Solar-Sunspots-2007-06-03.htm ... I was hoping to pursue this active region on a daily basis so as to construct some sort of animation but the weather had other plans.

Great sunspots at the mo and that's a fine image Anthony. Detail in H-alpha is also excellent.

You surprise me Anthony.

You should be calling the sun "Helios", not that Italian word!

Peter.

Thanks for the heads up Paul. Was cloudy all day here but will be clear today. Looking at the images going around it looks like there has been loads of activity around 960 over the last 24 hours. It's split into 2 large distinct spots with with loads of active areas around it. Apparently it flared yet again yesterday afternoon.

Lovely white-light image Anthony. I see you used a UV/IR cutoff filter. I had been wondering about whether to use my IR cutoff on images like this but was unsure as to wether the Baader foil cut those frequencies. Guess I'll try it next time
