Not bad at all Kieran, a nice image, like Michael says maybe you could push the sharpening a tiny bit.

Pushed as far as I was 'happy' with but not really happy since by over sharpen it shows up the image stitch seams. Interesting excercise though since it gave me a chance to try out various layering options for sharpened layers including hard light option.

The big problem I have doing this type of past time when nothing else is available is that registax cannot handle a lot of large image files. I took 10 images (each one 8 mb) per section of the mosaic and dropped that to six on image quality which was only about on average a 60-70% cut off limit. Could have taken lots more to bring the quality up but system would have crashed.

Kieran,
Big frames + registax = PC with lots of memory + speed
otherwise pain will result.
I have 2 gigs on my machine and it certainly helps.

What are you using as your stitching tool Kieran? I've found that Serif Panorama Plus works a treat on Moon mosaics - it's intended for wide panoramas and the like but will handle even complex mosaics with no effort at all!

Hmmm....interesting. I don't normally use layers when sharpening, but I do use "smart sharpen" rather than "unsharp mask". Gives a better result.

I'd be interestesd to know more about this layering technique you tried.
