Mercury tonight was created by lunartic_old
Hi all

I have just looked out towards the west, the current time is 17.52, Venus is brilliant and so obvious. I knew that Mercury was in the vicinity and I began to look. Then, there it was, at about a forty-five degree angle down to the right and nine degrees distance. I knew that Mercury was a bright planet, but what amazed me was the height above the horizon, I have seen Mercury once in the past and it was very low down. At the moment it is an easy height.

Unfortunately I'm at work, but anyone out there with a clear view to the west can get some excellent telescopic views. I just wish Iw a sone of them

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

The 2 planets were very easy to see last evening and over the past week.
Lets hope we get it again towards the end of the week before it goes.

By the looks of it, they will be visible for a week yet! On my way into Tullamore just before 7 yesterday evening, Mercury was STILL visible above the horizon. It was much fainter than it was even less than an hour before, but I think it was the lowest I have ever spotted it to the horizon.
