Basically, throw a couple of canisters of DNA goop onto the Moon for safe keeping in case we get wiped out!

depends what they put in it seanie, nightmare scenario the save bushes dna throw us back a few million years ;). with most of these schemes they usually try to save the most useless people, because they are the only ones that can afford it.

Three problems I can see straight off:
1) Who will be left to recreate the species?
2) Assuming some moon dwellers survived the extinctions on earth, how exactly will they use the DNA to recreate the species? The would need to have stored embryos.
3) It had better be well shielded up there are we might not recreate the same as we have now.....
