Stardust: Cosmic treasure bedazzles scientists was created by Seanie_Morris
Pristine comet samples returned by the Stardust spacecraft after a 2.9-billion-mile journey wildly exceeded scientists' expectations, project managers said last week.

A canister containing particles trapped after the Stardust space probe's 2004 encounter with Comet Wild-2, pronounced as "Vilt," landed on Earth on January 15. The samples were taken to the Johnson Space Center in Houston for inspections.

Mrs Iris Donaldson has just been dismissed from her cleaning post at Johnson Space Center.

Mrs Donaldson was nonchalantly performing her normal hoovering duties around the sample lab when Star Dust scientists began gesticulating wildly. They stared aghast as their precious comet samples were sucked up by the 500MegaVolt Vac-u-Lot that is part of Mrs Donaldson's toolkit in the never ending war against dirt.

"It's a sad day for those of us in the cleaning business", said the President of Dustbusters, Inc. "We've had just got the place sorted out after all those people trailing Moondust around the floors, when this then happens. We've also now lost the contract to bag all that meteoroid dust and had to scrap all our biplanes custom built out of flypaper."
