Just send a missile up to blow up the thing and end the `oh we should save hubble because... em... well we just should` argument.

Its served its purpose, thanks for the pictures, goodbye. Ground based telescopes like the VLT are approaching the quality level of Hubble anyway, and are more accessable.

Well, the VLT would be more accessible to Irish Astronomers if the Government actually Joined the ESO. Currently professional astronomers here have no access by right to any decent telescopes.

Its around, EUR100 million to join and then EUR15million a year I think.

so instead of contributing towards a venture like this, they waste money on things like a boardwalk over a sewage pit, and a stupid stiffy on O'Connell St thats started to rust already...

I know they didn't cost as much as subscription to the ESO, but still...

Sorry ESO membership costs 25 spires to join and then 4 spires a year :)
