First image of 2020 and last image posted on facebook. I hope to be able to post more images here this year - since Facebook is off my list now :-) and perhaps not many will know of my website.

Hi Brendan,

Wow!!! What an incredible image. The colours in your image are sublime, and the level of detail you've brought out is outstanding. Very well done.

What type of work goes into producing a picture of this quality?

Keep your images coming. In the meantime, I must check out your website to see what else you've produced.

Very many thanks for sharing your image with us.

Clear skies,

Darren.

Hi Darren - thanks.
You can see that there is 16 hours of data in that image gathered over several nights. (Sorry....if in Ireland it most likely would take much longer.....but I do my imaging from Spain).

Regardless it took days of processing after that as is the case for most of my images. But that is just me....I come up with a final image and then the next morning decide that I don't like the colour and go at it again. In fact with this image....I continued processing and changing after what you see here.....then decided that I had over-processed it all and come back to making this one the final image.

If interested - I do the pre-processing with Astro Pixel Processer - that is calibrating & stacking all the subs into the Masters. Then I work in PixInsight to complete the processing with the 3 Masters..........Ha, OIII & SII.

This is at least the 3rd time I have tried the Rosette over the years and was lucky to get this one right at last.....well, for me it is right..... & I doubt if I will go at it again.

Regards.

Hi Brendan,

Very many thanks for explaining how you produced your image. It provides a great insight into the amount of work that goes in to producing such a masterpiece. Also, many thanks for pointing me in the direction of the software used - that's good to know!

Also, fair dues for sticking with the Rosette Nebula...As they say, 'third time lucky'. But I'd imagine the only luck you required were getting some clear skies, which we could do with at the moment!

All the best,

Darren.
