I'm not displeased with this at all!

Not Disspleased? I'd be absolutely delighted if I took an image like that!

Very nice. Thats better than anything I've ever gotten on Jupiter.

That must have made focussing very difficult. Are you using a hartman mask or electronic focusser or anything for the focussing or patience and determination?

Even with a 2x barlow on my 4" mak I find focussing accurately very difficult.

I just visually focussed on the laptop screen with a lot of patience decided when I had gotten the best focus. Next time I'll try a hartmann mask.

Heres another image taken from an ani taken about a half an hour earlier than the one above. This one shows the GRS better.

Thanks for the encouraging words guys!

Dave - they're both nice shots. I prefer the first image. The second image seems flat and fairly heavily sharpened. But it certainly brings out Io (?). The first is more detailed and seems to be a little more in focus.

Can you take out the IR filter? I've seen other posts that suggest the supplied IR filters are not up to much. The best way to tackle the issue is take it out. That doesn;t screw up the colour too much on star images but can affect lunar/planetary images. So, pop an eyepice IR filter in the Barlow and away you go!

I use the Meade DSI without the supplied IR filter and usually shoot in mono. Colour is tricky but the lack of the filter can be compensated for in processing, to an extent.

Keep them coming!
